This has the potential to be HUGE and transform not only this neighborhood, but the entire riverfront. In 10 to 20 years you won't even recognize Columbus. I could imagine some nice low-rise apartments and condos in the area, plus shops and restaurants.

I agree. This is a massive step forward with major potential for some huge projects overlooking the river. There is prime real estate just north of the TSYS campus downtown. Definitely the beginning of something special.

I remember reading about plans to develop this area a few months ago. I'm glad to see this going forward and that area being revitilized!

expensive real estate!

The problem is going to be that the area will scare off some potential investors and tenants. I've had business owners wanting more and more security and cameras off of 2nd ave in that section for various reasons: homeless people sleeping in bushes, vandalizing property, breaking into property, etc etc. It is a great project, but there would have to be some major PR to build up the benefits of the project.

I would love to see some revitalization of that area. I live in Midland, take my son to daycare at St. Luke every day, take JR Allen to 2nd Ave. I heard at one point there was a goal to make that corridor much more aesthetically pleasing, so hopefully this project will help. I love the repurposed buildings in uptown, but don't think much on 2nd Ave can really be reused for anything.
