If they can do it in Montgomery, why can't we do it here in Columbus, especially with all the growth in UpTown!

I hope you're right! With all the new apartments and lofts coming online, and all the CSU students living and visiting downtown, and the city's ever-increasing tourism, this seems like a no-brainer to me!

While I love the idea of restoring the old theaters is just not gonna happen unless someone very wealthy wants a place to sink some cash. The builders are just too small for any modern screens and the seating capacity is not large enough to pay for the outrageous movie royalties/fees. The Montgomery example is just BARELY surviving and is far from thriving. It is only still open because of generous donations and does not make enough to survive as a profitable standalone business. Maybe we will be lucky and a Turner, Corn, Bradley, Woodruff, Blanchard etc.... family member will fall in love with the idea and dump a load of cash on it! Just FYI the Springer and Rivercenter only survive because of donations.

Love the idea but it would not be a profitable venture.

What about a concert venue like The Tabernacle or Georgia Theater? That would do better than turning it back into a theater.
