A $9 million project is set to add 80 apartment units to North Columbus.

The complex will be located at 7697 Kayne Boulevard, just north of the Mercedes-Benz dealership off Veterans Parkway.

The apartment complex, to be named Highlands at Kayne Boulevard, is expected to be completed by the end of the year. There will be four buildings on site, three of which are three-story, one is two-story. One of the buildings will house a community building and leasing office. IMC owns two lots at the location and may develop the second later on.

I think that would be a perfect spot to put a large casino!

If not there, in South Columbus, near the Infantry Museum, or downtown.

Ugh, no thanks. The fastest way to wreck a local economy is with a casino and they always hurt the working poor way more than the affluent population. It looks as if the state might go forward with casinos sooner than later and if this area is to get one I hope it's as far away from Downtown, or anywhere near any of the poorer neighborhoods, as possible. Let that end up in Midland or as far north up River Rd as Harris County allows. I'd rather a casino cancer affect the blue-haired ladies spending their childrens' inheritance rather than the working poor spending their weekly paychecks, and proximity down to the mile plays a large role in who becomes a problem gambler in casinos.

You make a good point. Midland Commons makes a lot of sense, right next to Costco, PF Chang's., and Trader Joe's.
