Hello my name is katherine, I am planning to go to Colombus around july 25th cause my boyfriends is training in Fort Benning, I am not going to take a flight there, and i am not taking my car because it's 6 cylinders and i live in Long Island , New york. if i take my car it would cost like 500 and hotel not included. So what i am thinking to do is to take a train from new york to Atlanta GA and the price is only 150$ .. but I don't know how to get to columbus from Atlanta.. is there any web page that you can recommend or how should i do it?? i am planning to Book a hotel around there and rent a car. I just want to know how to get to Columbus Ga from Atlanta Ga.

Thank you

Rent your car in Atlanta and drive to Columbus. If you get a rental car that offers unlimited mileage, that is probably the cheapest way to get there.

Mapquest
Its a easy drive, I would think the car rental place would direct you as to which way to start.

basically I285 to I85 south to I185 south which goes

straight into Columbus and dead ends at ft.bennings gate.

Groome Transportation has hourly commuter van service from Atlanta INTL Airport to its Columbus terminal near Veterans Parkway and US 80 bypass (JR Allen Parkway) Round trip is only about $60 for round trip about 200 miles. check it out online.
you would just need to get from Peachtree Amtrac Station to Atlanta Airport. If traveling light you could take Marta bus and rapid transit to airport.
if rental car you might get better rate in Atlanta. If you are AAA member (I highly recommend it $~75 year) could probably get deal on all. Join then call the Columbus AAA office. Smart to not fly into columbus but if you can get promotional fare as far as Atlanta it might be worth it. Didnt say how long you were staying. But derfinitely get one of the (mostly) new motels north of manchester xwy.
Others advice preceeding mine looks pretty good.
