Downtown Riverfront Park Construction Begins

The Scioto River dam removal, restoration and park creation project Downtown has begun, with completion still expected to be sometime in 2015. About 33 acres of new park will be created, along with new walking/bike trails, landscaping and a restored natural river flow.

MORPC Exploring Feasibility of Chicago-Columbus High Speed Rail

The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission has jumped on board in looking at the feasibility of the Chicago-Columbus HSR line prompted, in part, by Transit Columbus' petition to get this project moving forward. $1.2 billion line, if it moves forward, may be constructed and in use by 2020.

The Lower Olentangy Urban Arboretum wants to uncover the stream and part of Glen Echo Ravine in order to create a new park and walking trail from the site at the intersection of High and Arcadia all the way down to the Olentangy River. They acquired the site after Clintonville rejected a proposal for a car wash there. Unfortunately, the ambitious project may not happen for a while, as it requires the property across the street, a Tim Horton's.
