Pretty impressive stuff. Seems most of the people I know are still without power and damage is widespread.

I drove my girlfriend to work in Upper Arlington along Kenny Road and there were downed branches and even entire trees snapped in half everywhere. Pretty crazy stuff.

We were without power here in Dayton for about 16 hours. Construction barrels and signs on the highways were flying into oncoming traffic. One of my bosses had a branch fall on her car. Dayton International Airport saw gusts of 80+mph. These storms made it to DC by midnight, so they were surely clocking.

Hope those in Columbus get their power back soon. Seems to have been harder hit than where we are.

Was told Gahanna will not have power until July 8th. Driving around on the 30th, I didn't see any AEP workers working on anything though.

That's because in a situation like this, there isn't enough of them to go around without repositioning people from other parts of the US, just like when we send ours to other areas to assist when there are tornadoes, hurricanes, or whatever. For example, I heard on the radio today that AEP was flying in over 100 technicians from Texas.

There are already technicians arriving from other places, though. Today I saw a convoy of utility trucks pulling power auger trailers and all kinds of equipment coming into C-bus on the interstate, and this evening I passed a strip shopping center and there must have been 30 cherry picker/bucket trucks lined up on the lot with a whole bunch a workers huddled in the middle. It looked like they were getting their assignments. However, I know when you don't have power, help can't come quickly enough. We were without power for several days after Ike, but we got lucky this time.
