I've been looking online at apartment options in Columbus. I plan to move there within the next few months. I'm looking for a 2 bedroom townhouse but even a 1 bedroom flat with large rooms would work for me. I want to live in a decent area but not an overly expensive. I've been looking on the East Side because I want to stay close to the family I have there. They have been living in the same house since 1999 and only lived at one other place prior that were also houses so they know very little about the apartments in the city. I'm starting to become really worried because as I look online and read reviews for potential places there always seems to be reviews about the apartments having roaches. I'm terrified that I'm going to move into a place infested with roaches. Does anyone have any advice or know of any decent roach free places around the East Side of Columbus? Anybody know anything about the Hidden Acres East Apartments? I don't really want any place that's more than $750 for rent.

What kind of reviews are they though? Meaning " i had roaches, it was treated and all was fine" OR " I had roaches and the LL didnt do anything and i had to get rid of everything".

Either way isnt ideal but a LL handling the situation right away is better than one who doesnt care. Sadly Roaches and Bedbugs CAN be a part of apartment living. You have no way to know what your neighbor may or may not have.

They were more like "apartment looked nice at first but moved in and found out there was roach infestation, told landlords, they sprayed but it didn't help" due to neighbors having them or just a really big problem. I understand that's always a possibility with apartments. I'm just trying to steer clear of entire buildings being infested.

Maybe try finding a house rather than an apartment to rent or a smaller apartment building with less units? If you found a house you can see about roommates.
