I am not sure how scientific this list is, but Worthington ranked #2 in a list of "hottest" real estate markets in the US. The mismatch between supply (low) and demand (high, very high) this spring has been really frustrating for my friends looking to stay in the walkable areas of Worthington. Even the higher prices being asked are doing nothing to slow down the demand.

2. WORTHINGTON, OHIO: 43085
Pop. 13,837 in the ZIP Code

This Columbus suburb, founded more than 200 years ago, is one of the first planned communities in the Midwest. Its unemployment rate is one of the lowest in the United States, and nearly half the rate of the broader metro. Realtor.com describes Worthington as a "major relocation market." Listings in this ZIP are viewed on average 1,000 times a month, triple the rate of the Columbus area overall and seven times the national average. Homes are more expensive here, too, about 25 percent pricier than Columbus-area homes overall in June.

Doesn't surprise me. It's location inside the outer belt, decent schools, and walkable downtown make for a great combo. I wonder, as I haven't been to Worthington specifically in about 5 years, has there been any indication/increase of tear downs becoming a trend?

Other than Bexley, UA and Grandview Heights, its hard to be inside the beltway with great schools and great amenities.

It is really hard to do a teardown within the Old Worthington city limits because of Architectural Review District rules. I have noticed at least four houses adding an entire second story on what was previously a very small one story house.
