My DH and I are thinking of moving to Colubmus. We have visited before, but not during the summer. People tell us it is mostly overcast. How often is it and how is the climate there as a whole? Also, how is the housing market and the outdoor activities(hiking, running, kayaking...)

Thanks

The Columbus economy is doing great. As far as the overcast. Yes during about a certain amount of the year. Just like all across the northern half the country. Just these 5 lasts days we have had complete sunshine and upper 80s and lower 90s weather. Everyone is out in the pool and going to the lakes to go boating. The Columbus area is great. Many people move here from NY, MI, PA, WV, and WI. Its an attractive area to alot of people. The suburbs are awesome. Hilliard, Dublin, Arlington Heights, Westerville, and Lincoln Village are all great with great schools, very safe, and lots of shopping and entertainment. Columbus is home to many headquarters like Progressive, and Wendy's. But good luck with what you decide on your move.

Also will add the housing market is good. Better than most cities Columbus' size. Also outdoor activities never seem to end in Columbus. They have the Darby Creek Metro Park on the southwest side of the city, the Hoover Recreactional area on the Hoover Lake, then the two best metro parks i have ever been to Sharon Woods Metro Park and Highbanks Metro Park. Both by a nice suburb called Worthington. Once again good luck with your decision.

I can not answer the housing market question as I have been away for 2 years, but as for the area itself, you would love it. My family and I relocated from there to outside Philadelphia and we are in the process of trying to decide if we can move back. My company does not have an opening, or it would be a no brainer. Everyone was wonderful. The city was clean and safe. If you like to eat out and/or shop, you will love it there.

Where did you live in Columbus? Are there places to live that are in within walking/biking distance to shopping and dining? Thanks!!

Default Columbus

I grew up in Reynoldsburg, OH - a suburb on the east side. It was a decent area - typical suburb. It had some good parks - JFK, Blacklick Woods. My neighborhood even had it's own park perfect for hiking, biking, walking, etc. It's grown quite a bit though. Pickerington is just south and might be a little bit nicer / safer. The suburbs on the north end seemed to be the nicest: Dublin, Worthington, Westerville .... all were and still are very nice areas.

PM me if you have any specific questions about the area. I still have a lot of family there and visit often.

Matt

I've visited Columbus over a two month period. Might I say, for someone who in general hates flatter areas (in general it's flat), heat and no snow it was pretty good. I have a general bias again living outside New England. I loved the things to do, the people are nice and enthusiastic. If you like hockey, the Blue Jackets deliver a pretty good experience and the stadium is one of the best in the league.

Progressive is headquartered in Cleveland not Columbus.
