Hi! I was just wondering if you know any good reliable homebuilders in Columbus, Ohio.
That build good solid houses and not just for the looks (not that it should be ugly or anything) if you know what I mean. That has a good rep and warranties.
Thanks!

Truberry and Toll Brothers are great custom home builders. If you want semi custom, Rockford builds a good home also. It also depends on what price range you are looking in and if you want totally custom ot Semi Custom.

Toll Bros left Columbus a year ago. Duffy Homes, by the Edwards Corp, is a very popular upscale home builder in metro Columbus.

Sorry... I did know that about Toll Brothers just slipped my mind.

Another option would be CV Perry or Bob Webb. Both of these are STILL in Columbus and building in a number of communities.

"Another option would be CV Perry "

CV Perry already bankrupt last year. Avoid buying any houses built by CV perry as warranty is now gone.

The Columbus Dispatch : Builder C.V. Perry closing shop for good

M/I, Virginia Home, Truberry and Bob Webb are the good ones. The question is what's your price range?

ShowCase is the luxury builder of M/I, and it will only built homes over $400K I suppose. Heard HomeWood and Ambassador (luxury arm of Homewood) are pretty good too.

One of the easy way to asses the reliability of builder is to ask them how many years have they been in business, and what's the structural warranty offer. Typical good ones give you 30/35 years structural, and 5 year everything covered.

You shouldn't even be asking. There are too many new homes on the market now. And too many vacant old ones (and new ones). Supply far outweighs demand. Building a new house would be irresponsible and gluttonous.

If the OP wants to build an entire new home to their specifications, why not put these companies back to work? Maybe they want quality instead of the crappy places (M/I... Dominion) that are losing value by the second. Why buy something that was built to fail?

it would be great if those companies had work. but you can't deny the economic facts. supply of homes is much greater than demand now. if he wants a solid house i'm sure he could find one in Powell, New Albany, UA, or Bexley. or he could put some people to work and renovate a solid yet cheap house in Old Towne, and thereby be a better steward of the environment and the economy. just my opinion.
