I invested some money in some guy who does a bunch of housing stuff in detroit. It was supposed to be a loan and then when the houses sell he pays me back with interest. The guy is legit, there have just been a bunch of problems with this time around.

Some how he ended up with a couple properties in Columbus. Since the money is tied up he is offering me one of the houses.

Here is the address:

974 heyl, columbus, ohio 43206

what sort of neighborhood is this? is it a decent rental market, is this a place i would ever want to live?

Thanks so much for any insight you might have on this area.

No, you would definitely not want to live there. The neighborhood has a lot of problems and the Columbus schools in that area probably aren't somewhere you would want to send your kids if you had another option.

It's the same deal to the east and the south of this address. If you go about 0.5 miles to the west however (a few blocks west of Parsons Ave) you start getting into German Village which is much nicer, although also more expensive.

Never trust someone who thinks Detroit is a good real estate market to make money in right now. I left there almost a year ago and its getting worse every day.

Depends on how much money he owes you, if it's less than 10K, sell it and get your money. Otherwise, pass.

I know I wouldn't want to be in that area of town after dark. Especially around the first of the month when everyone gets their free government checks for being on welfare.

Stay away from the driving park area. Unless you don't have a lot of money and you own a couple of guns.
