Watching as Americans get duped with the FUD factor by the AV firms and the media. Here's one for ya, why is it TO THIS DAY we still have reactive virus scanners? The first virus scanners were sold when? 1988 or thereabouts, and we still can't be protected from the nasties???????
"Blind to the risks" ~ More like have the intelligence to understand whether something is a true risk or just more scare mongering in order to buy either another AV product or buy an upgrade to it.
Oh and BTW, I have 4 kids, don't worry, they can tell the difference when it comes to whether something is BS in the computer world.....

I generally agree with most of your posts, Dave, but on this I agree with Plwhit: you are coming off just a little bit paranoid.
Does it happen? I am sure it does. Frequently? Not at all. Not even a tiny bit. You can't seriously be suggesting this is even remotely common?
There isn't one thing in a computer that isn't controlled by either software or firmware.
I'm not sure. I know it comes on when the webcam is accessed by any program.
