I have Malwerebytes on my computer.
I update it every day... and after it downloads the latest version, ...a little pop-up states it has been done and I click OK to close it.
However,.. the past few times, after I click OK,... another smaler pop-up comes up saying to Select Set-up Language to use during the installation. ...When I click OK,... a screen comes up advising me to close all other programs before "Installing Malwarebytes", as if I am installing it for the very first time.

This NEVER happened before when I used to check for updates, so I canceled out to find out more before I do anything else.
What gives with this ?
Will I be re-installing Malwarebytes all over again..EVERYTIME I do an update from now on?
I would appreciate if any of you experts will let me know more about this....and if I should go through with it or not.

Thanks in advance for your help

.

It does that some times. If it doesn't actually update, uninstall it and download a fresh copy from them.

I've run in to this recently, it's only supposed to do that when a new version of the program is available, seems to be a glitch.

Every Day??? No way. All of these programs miss bits and pieces. Running it every day won't make you appreciably more protected than once a week or once a month. That is like checking your email every 15 minutes... oh wait...

I'm not sure what you mean?
I have the Malwarebytes Icon on my Desktop so I can click on it when I want to run a scan or update. Is that what you mean?

By the way....even updating it frequently the way I do,......I still picked up that Trojan Fake Alert a couple of times. It only caught it after I booted up in safe mode and ran a scan with it.
I thought it was supposed to catch those things and stop them before they start to freeze things up.

If you have the free version of Malwarebytes, it doesn't automatically update and doesn't have any real-time protection. So there's no way it can protect you from anything. All it can do is remove something after its been installed.

There is NO PROGRAM that can protect the computer from a careless user who clicks on things that shouldn't be clicked on. The closest would be Firefox with NoScript, but if the user insists on doing risky things, the computer WILL get infected.

I always try to be very carefull about which sites I visit. So much so, that certain family members make fun of me for being almost paranoid about it.
It happened once right after I was searching for something on Google and clicked on a Link.
Another time it happened right after I clicked on a site on ebay that is a Discussion Board to give help for Photos & HTML.
I certainly never go to Porn sites or Music Download Sites or things like that.
I used to have AVG on my computer but I have recently changed to Microsoft Security Essentials and I don't believe it warns if a site is safe or not. Does it ?

AVG or MS Security Essentials will block malicious content from executing IF they know its malicious. The problem is that malware evolves so quickly that its impossible to block everything.

So what web browser do you use? Do you browse with scripting enabled?

Don't trust any one or any thing on the web, sites you've been visiting for years can get hacked to serve malware at any time, flash ads are another common infection method, both MSN and Google were recently serving malicious advertisements.

A very common way of getting infected, you have to make sure the link your clicking on in the search results is safe.

No it doesn't, but you can use a browser add on such as Web of Trust.
