I got a new set of Creative Acoustics speakers for christmas this year. I used a set of CA speakers for about 7-8 years, always high quality. Well I got the speakers set up and I am having an odd sound issue. The sound cuts in and out on games and videos, but only certain sounds. For example, I can go to YouTube and listen to Tom Petty; the music will play but the singing will cut in and out. I haven't changed sound drivers as it's still the same sound card. I also tried adjusting the sound levels but nothing helped.
Are your new speakers part of a multichannel speaker setup (surround sound)? That's the only way that it makes sense that vocals could be cutting out, but other audio is ok. I believe YouTube audio is only two channel, so your speaker system could be doing Dolby ProLogic decoding on the two channels to synthesize the center channel (vocals and dialog), and something could be going wrong there. The music would be untouched (mostly) by the decoding, and continue to play out of the left and right speakers. Maybe the connection to your center channel speaker is loose.
I think I got it fixed. For some reason the speakers are really out of balance and one of the speakers wasn't playing any sound, I think hence the reason I was hearing only one sound and not the other. The left and right speakers are switched on my desk, one is set at 100% volume and the other at about 40%. Gonna do a few tests and see if this fixed it.

Ensure that your speakers are very well connected. Often is the case that its down to a loose connection or faulty wiring. Go into your playback device settings and make sure that "enhancements" is disabled.
