I would like to build a system centered around an AMD FX-8350 (4.2 GHz * 8) processor to be used primarily for video editing. I am wondering what motherboard will take advantage of its features. I am thinking of using the system primarily for HD video and photo editing.

Then, go use Google and dig 'em up. Read the reviews at tigerdirect and newegg, comments on forums everywhere, etc. Comb through all of the data, spot trends, decide what looks best for you. city-data is not a computer builder's forum.

Is it just me, or do other people also notice an epidemic of people coming to discussion forums and demanding that others do all of their work/thinking for them?

If it's not a computer builder's forum what is it? It says Computers up there, are there exclusions?

Some of us like talking about this type of stuff.

Personally OP, I've been pretty impressed with Asrock's line (I'm using a z77 sabertooth in my machine at the moment but I just used an extreme3 board for my brother's build). An extreme3 or extreme4 would be a fine choice. I am also an avid Asus fan. Gigabyte's been good to me in the past but I haven't kept up on their warranties and all that so I don't know if they're still a good pick or not.

Do you have any peripheral cards you're going to be adding? I'm assuming you want USB 3 and SATA 3, do you need any certain type of slot?

I spec'd out an AMD build but some mbs were discontinued. The new version of one of them is this: Newegg.com - ASRock 980DE3/U3S3 AM3+ AMD RX881/760G SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
It's good but it's video channel is PCI Exp 2.0, outdated. Even in the Intel mbs a lot were outdated PCI Exp 2.0.

The i7 3770K is $229.99 at MicroCenter; FX8350 is at $179.99

A good Intel 1155 mb that has PCI Exp 3.0 is this: ECS X77H2-A3 v1.2 LGA 1155 Intel H77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS - Newegg.com
Good for 1 powerful video card and lots of expansion slots.

But it's rumored that the new Nvidia 700 cards series are coming out VERY SOON!

Report: Nvidia 700-Series to Release in May; More Specs

When I do video processing on Corel Videostudio X6 all of my i7 2600 CPU threads hit 100%.
