So I got 2 years of Kaspersky. It has a has had a few issues over the last year. Currently it says to update database. It is in the orange yellow color. But when I update it gets to 10 or 15% and stops. It did something like this before, then a few days later it magically was all fine. They have NO customer service. Won't even respond to email. All I keep hearing from others it to reboot the system. Not sure how to do that, and if I need the original passwords or id numbers. It says I have 140 days left.

Anyway, I have some protection from Frontier, but don't know how good it is. Was thinking about adding a free AVG type thing. This is just a personal computer at home, doing net surfing and watching youtube. Any suggestions?

Can you get your money back?

Microsoft Security Essentials is free. So are several other AV applications.

I would uninstall it and use MSE together with Malwarebytes.

You get what you pay for. Pay for your protection.

Can you afford $5 per month ($60 for a year subscription)?

Look thru internet reviews for the experiences of others. Amazon is excellent source for reviews.

I do not understand people who have anti-virus software. I have not had any since 2005 and have never had a problem. And, I surf to porn sites.

MSE is free but the OP might want a reasonable amount of protection. That's where Kaspersky could come in.

Some people get virii while others don't. I think PC users are generally more scared because PC virii tend to be disruptive. This results to them wanting antivirus software.

It's worse for Mac users. On Macs virus writers care more about stealing information than they do about being disruptive. Somehow the mac virus community has been able to grow insanely large with an agreement that they will only create silent viruses/trojans that steal information but don't harm the computer. It's quite impressive... and has managed to fool the Apple community into thinking they don't get virii.
