OK, my mom (+60 years old) bought a laptop after her netbook finally kicked the bucket. She started with Windows back with 3.1 and up to her current desk top Windows Vista. This laptop comes with Windows 8. Of all the Windows operating systems she's had, this is the worst. When dragging her finger across the pad, it will switch from desktop to tiles or back the other way. She can have the explorer open surfing the internet and it'll switch to tiles. Sometimes she can't shut down a window and has to shut down the entire computer. She's so fed up with the laptop that she's returning it back to the store to exchange. She may break down and get a tablet as long as it doesn't have Windows 8 installed. Has anyone else tried Windows 8 and have had similar trouble? I tried her laptop and Windows 8 and I agree, it's a big pain in the backside.

I windows 8 - previously had Vista. IMO, it is a big improvement over VISTA mainly for it"s compatibility. I do find that the touchpad is really sensitive and so far I have not found no way to make adjustments. For searching the web, I have adjusted well but for working on documents I can't seem to control my cursor which results in garbled writing.

I did buy a wireless mouse for my pc and it did help along with using the desktop more then the apps with the charms. That seems to be almost identical to Vista.

I love windows 8 with the touchscreen, I liked windows 7 but windows 8 blows it away with speed and looks I am a fan of the tiles and dont miss the start button so much as this seems to be the biggest issue that most are having with windows 8.
