My cat just chewed the cable that connects the keyboard to the computer. It's chewed right at the base of the plug. Can this be spliced? Or do I need to buy a new keyboard?

Depending on the type of keyboard you want it would likely cost almost as much to buy a new cable, if you can find one. Then you have to install it in the keyboard - and hope it's not a soldered connection.

Splicing probably won't work.

Agreed. Most new keyboards are well under $20 nowadays. I would cost at least that to get a repair shop to repair or replace the damaged cable.

On the other hand, if the you have a $150+ gaming keyboard, you might want to check with a few repair shops to see what they can do.

Check your local second-hand thrift store. They usually have piles of keyboards for cheap.

Later on, OP realizes she has a wireless keyboard!

CountryGal, stop touching your keyboard cable when eating tasty snacks, it's not the cat's fault!

Get a wireless keybd and mouse for $20 (Microsoft Corporation 800 - Best Buy) and never have to discipline that cat.
