A script error message was popping up on my laptop in greater frequency over the last two days. In response I tried to disable script debugging in the Advanced tab of Internet Options. It didn't work. So I tried a system restore, going back two days. The restore would've wiped out a Windows update, which I suspect caused the debugging script error message. But it failed. Now my laptop won't start up. How do I restore my laptop without losing any data? Thanks!

It would be nice to know which version of Windows you're using, that determines the next step.

Assuming Windows 7, turn the computer on, tap the F8 key continually (not too fast though), at the menu select repair your computer, then try another restore point or undo the previous restore.

Dave, your assumption is correct. Thanks for the instructions. It enabled me to undo the failed system restore attempt.

Btw, I still get the following Webpage Error message: "Do you wish to debug this page?" As mentioned above, I tried to disable it on the Advanced Settings tab of Internet Options, but it returns just as quickly after I make the change. This problem started after a Windows update and I consider it a nuisance.
