My current machine ID is C8DD224428047E14CA3B394H5B4C9560

Will changing the MAC address change my machine ID above or only change the MAC address part of the machine ID?

My current MAC address is not apart of that number. I believe the machine ID above from my CPU and harddrive generated.

machine ID is not MAC adress
"your new mac adress to text field like this 0013F3FD6BC6"
Try to get your MAC with command line - enter "getmac"

I dont know what you mean is machine ID. I reckon its product ID from manufacturer. I guess its not concern to MAC adress. Anyway you can do experiment with this numbers.

The machine ID is given by a software I downloaded to my computer for free 7 day trial.

I would like to trial the software a few more days.

But each time I re install the software, the machine id remains the same which blocks me from trial the software again.

So I am trying to see how to change the machine id.

Pls read readme.txt in your software folder. I am not clairvoyant and dont have predictions crystal ball.

I think your problem with MAC is resolved. You had to call the thread "how to prolong the work of X program."

In that case, the machine ID is most likely a small file the s/w has placed on your hard drive. (Sort of like a web site cookie) Nothing to do with PC serial number, or MAC address.

IF you can find it somewhere on your HD, you could try and delete it.

BTW, don't you think the s/w vendor has thought about how to thwart any attempts at workarounds such as you're trying ?

The machine id was created by the software, and could be based on anything that the developer wanted to base it on.

Most likely they used a number of different things, and designed it so that you couldn't easily beat the trial. Changing your MAC address likely won't help.

Oracle VM VirtualBox, install virtual OS and install your software into virtual OS as experiment. Maybe it will work.
