If I change my MAC address, will my machine id change as well?
Thanks
I dont know what you mean is machine ID. I reckon its product ID from manufacturer. I guess its not concern to MAC adress. Anyway you can do experiment with this numbers.
The machine ID is given by a software I downloaded to my computer for free 7 day trial.
I would like to trial the software a few more days.
But each time I re install the software, the machine id remains the same which blocks me from trial the software again.
So I am trying to see how to change the machine id.
In that case, the machine ID is most likely a small file the s/w has placed on your hard drive. (Sort of like a web site cookie) Nothing to do with PC serial number, or MAC address.
IF you can find it somewhere on your HD, you could try and delete it.
BTW, don't you think the s/w vendor has thought about how to thwart any attempts at workarounds such as you're trying ?
The machine id was created by the software, and could be based on anything that the developer wanted to base it on.
Most likely they used a number of different things, and designed it so that you couldn't easily beat the trial. Changing your MAC address likely won't help.
Mr. Darrel try install virtual machine Oracle VM VirtualBox, install virtual OS and install your software into virtual OS as experiment. Maybe it will work.
