Modern browser applications eats memory/CPU/GPU resourses, its no secret.
Test your OS. Launch Firefox and open 20-30 tubs (amazon, aliexpress, youtube HD, facebook etc)+skype, viber, other instant massangers + antivir.

The chief feature of gaming machines is very high performance video subsystems, often dual card. Unless you actually do gaming, the investment in high end video is entirely wasted.
In the case of web browsing only, any external card is a waste on-board intel graphics will be more than enough. Coal and I are on the same page.
If you had said you also do video, then I'd say a separate graphics card is useful, since the right card can greatly speed up video rendering. But you didn't mention it.
