I downloaded Winzip but it closes before I can access the program for some reason. I tried RAR extractor from the microsoft store and it hangs up half way through.

I never use rar files except for this one (Purchased program). Is there anything free and easy to use? (That works)

Hate to reply to my own thread but 7-zip worked like a charm if anyone cares.

WinRAR has been around for a long time. It's free to download and use, you will get a nagware message after a certain amount of time which means they want you to buy it but I do think it will keep working.

As you've already found, 7-Zip is free (no nag window like Winzip or Winrar), works great, and can handle rar files.

It's the only thing I've used for years (I use it hundreds of times a week on multiple machines).

There are lots of free tools to unarchive many different kinds of archive files. I used one of them which open common formats such as Zip, RAR, 7-zip, Tar, Gzip and more.

Because of the nature of an open-source format, it is extremely probable that you may receive a Zip file with a basic header issue. This header problem might be the result of a minor error made by the program or procedure used to build the Zip file. Regardless of how innocuous the error appears to be, WinZip will evaluate all inconsistencies in the Zip file's header, inaccurate data, and erroneous extensions as potential security issues and will notify you that the Zip file is faulty. Have you tried to work with Magnet Mac https://okaapps.com/product/0000000001, as I know, it’s popular between mac users and works properly, no one encountered problems like yours.

I like UniExtract2:
https://github.com/Bioruebe/UniExtract2
but as I use Windows 7 x64, I do not know how well it works on Windows 10. The description indicates it mostly works with Windows XP, and has full functionality with Windows 7 and newer.
