I have decided to try and make my Dell Inspiron 15, which is about 5 years old, last awhile longer rather than getting another one. The battery is starting to last shorter so I know it's on the way out.
I see where some Inspiron 15's are easy to change out the batteries (though I've never done it and actually never done anything to a laptop) so I'm wondering how to tell if my laptop is one that would be an easy change. It's a JTXYD82 Inspiron 15 if that helps anyone who knows about these things. I've seen them pretty cheaply on the internet and it seems about 1/3 of the price to do it myself vs. taking it in to have it done by someone. Thanks for any opinions.
Based on the ST and its manual (page 10), it has an external battery (back bottom) so it would be a snap to replace it.
No assembly of any kind is needed!
Most batteries are either quick pop/slide in and out with no other retention. You might have to unscrew or unmount a cover to get to it. Otherwise, Google the make/model # of the laptop and replacement battery. You'll find replacement parts easily.
OK = I'm getting psyched up to do it. Dell's are about $100 or so. Is there a place that would have a completely Dell-like battery that costs less?
