I just started using a new Windows 11 computer. During setup it asked to enter a PIN so I did.
Whenever I start up it asks for the PIN.

It says in the official help page that if you want to add/change the password you should go to
Start > Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options

But on mine, the word "password" doesn't appear at all on that page. It does have options for the PIN.

I guess "Windows Hello PIN" is the same thing as Windows password??

This page also doesn't match what I see on my sign-in options page.

PIN works for me.
But...
One important difference between an online password and a Hello PIN is that the PIN is tied to the specific device on which it was set up. That PIN is useless to anyone without that specific hardware.

In other words someone who steals your online password can sign in to your account from anywhere, but if they steal your PIN, they'd have to steal your physical device too.

PIN is more secure.

Help pages very often don't match what's on the screen.
Especially in setup screens.

I don't think you can enter just a PIN without entering a Password first.
You should always have more than one way to get into the system so it'd make sense to setup 2 different methods anyhow.
With LIVE account (which you might be using) due to a Windows Update, system corruption, profile corruption or malware, the PIN can break but password will never break.

Well I can't find enter/change password anywhere in W11.
Does anyone here have W11- do you see how to add both a PIN and a password?
