I've been trying to figure out a way to rip CDs such that when I play them back on my car's USB player, they don't have gaps between songs that are not meant to be there. By this I mean, when playing an "album" that is live (crowd noises carry over between tracks) or an "album" that blends the songs together (such as Black Sabbath's Sabotage), there should not be a pause when it switches tracks/files.
Is there a way to do this using any of the common programs for ripping CDs? (Such as VLC, the old Windows Media Player, or others that are easy to acquire.)
If you're serious about ripping CD's you need a program that is serious about ripping CD's. A program built to do it. A true misc management program. I highly recommend Media Monkey: https://www.mediamonkey.com/
CD's are ripped gapless by default.

Does it rip in a format that I can use on my USB (flash drive) in my car? I'm assuming that it would have to be MP3, but I may be wrong.
Yes, it can rip to MP3. Pretty sure that's the default.
