Do Laptop Batteries with More Cells Have Longer Life Expectancies? (laptops, Word)

We all know that laptop batteries typically die after 12 to 36 months.


If a laptop battery has 9 or 12 cells (which is toward the higher range), would it have a longer life expectancy than 4 or 6 cell batteries?

In other words, does the number of cells affect the overall life expectancy, with all else (quality, amount of use, etc) being essentially equal?

In theory, each cell will deteriorate at a different speed. As a result, a battery with more cells has a higher probability of lasting longer than one with less cells. Although, it will likely not be by a significant amount.

Also, not all batteries are the same quality. Low-end laptops use batteries designed to go through fewer charge cycles. While higher end laptops (such as the Macbook Air and ThinkPad x1 Carbon) are designed to last significantly longer.

One cell can ruin the entre pack so odds are more cells more chances of a battery going bad.Even withi the same pack unless matched they are not the same and then things happen with any cell and do.But if in pareell each battery cell has a avrage numbers of charge cycles expected capacity to hold a charge start to effect them.

The different will be how much time the larger battery will give. There's the difference.
Will it last any longer? Not by anything worthwhile as has been stated.
But when it's 2 years old and the 6 cell is only lasting 60 minutes, the 9 cell will probably be lasting for 100 minutes.
