I posted this on another forum, but I'd like a second opinion. I've contacted my sister via e-mail regarding my X-mas gift this year, and I went with this: Newegg.com - CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory , 2 of them to replace the two 512MB modules.

...since that is what the NewEgg reccomender suggested. I've always gone with Crucial memory before this, since I've had no problems with them. Can I expect the same level of quality with Corsair?

Oh, and a bit off topic here, but does anyone else tend to collect their old memory sticks from previous computers? I've got three old ones, a 32MB one from my old IBM Aptiva (2 computers ago, before 2001), a 128MB one that also went into my Aptiva, and a 256MB one that came standard on my older Compaq (2001-2007; replaced with a 512MB module).

I've used Corsair memory. Since it didn't fail, I too can only say I've had no problem with it.

(I've still got some 72 pin memory in a box somewhere.)

Corsair is good RAM. Don't worry. $13 for a gig. Jeez!

I keep old RAM. On occasion I run into people who are having a rough time of it and need some PC help. If the RAM fits their PC and it needs it I put in it. Doesn't cost me anything and sometimes eliminates the need for them spending money.

I recently got rid of some old memory cards. The ones with the small chips you could plug in yourself. Took up a slot on the mobo and didn't run very fast. Row upon row upon row of little chips on a full length board. I spent more time than I care to admit plugging in those chips to add RAM to company computers. Fingers and thumbs used to hurt for days after that.

Pretty much. They're both top brands.

I guess I do - not by choice, but by happenstance. I just never get rid of the things... I've got quite a collection. I think I even have some SIPPs around, and I know I have some chips - yes, actual memory chips that had to be seated in sockets (c. < 1990). What can I say - I'm a pack rat.

check out memoryamerica.com, they might have that ram as well... and a lot more.

As for corsair, they are not a bad ram at all. I use OCZ stuff myself.

I like OCZ flash drives. Their RMA program is the best (had to use it once - my fault, not the hardware) and has a quick turnaround. I now buy only OCZ flash.

I also like Patriot memory. I've had very good luck with it.
