Looking to get some new memory. I see on newegg that G.Skill is a bit cheaper than other brands. But how are they compared to Corsair, Kingston, etc.... I just don't want to get a bad memory brand.

Gskill is just as good as corsair. Corsair is more expensive because of the brand name is more recognized. I got the corsair dominator because it came with its own fans for the ram

But Id have no issues putting gskill into my pc either.

OCZ is also another ram that is good as well as is mushkin

And just for reference a lot of people think that gskill is the best ram available. I suppose it depends on who you are talking too, just make sure you buy the fastest ram. I think thats DDR3 but I cant remember as I havent bought ram in about a year.

What I have found to be the key issue with ram is not so much its quality and performance (though this can most certainly be an issue with some ram, especially if you are overclocking), but its general compatibility with some motherboard manufactures. Corsair tends to be versatile in that respect. I have used mushkin and I really like the ram, but I have had issues with it concerning some MB models from manufactures. That is not to say it isn't good, just be sure you know for sure that your MB doesn't have any history with certain brands of memory.

I have a tendency to buy OCZ and Patriot and have had no issues with either.

I like G-skill for their shiny heatsink colors. No really.

Seriously I haven't had any problems even with overclocking them a bit.

Almost 2 years ago, I built my last PC and took a chance on G-Skills (weird name I know) mainly because it was quite a bit less than the known brands.
Had no issues, ones or twice I even O/C'ed and they were still fine.

I think as others mentioned, they are cheaper because they are working on building their rep and becoming a bigger name. Good quality imho.

I got Corsair memory with a 20$ rebate, but they didn't give me the rebate. I'd keep away from them.
