My sister bought a thumb drive to move files from one computer to another. As you can see in the picture, the drive hits the edge of the computer before it goes in.

Any suggestions on this? Is there some adapter I need to buy?

Thanks.

You could get a USB extension cord, like this one:

First check the sides of the laptop to make sure there are no other USB ports that might work. If not, then your best bet is to buy a cheap USB hub.

Here are some examples. There are probably some cheaper ones out there.

Thanks, the extension cable should do the trick. If not, a hub is a good idea too. The laptop only has two places to plug in.

I use extension cables all the time. They work great.

Or you can do what I did (unintentionally) and step on the thumb drive, smashing the plastic case in the process, which will enable it to fit into the port. Probably not the best option.

The obvious solution is to buy a new laptop!

LOL! A new laptop, now why didn't I think of that?

My question is why it didn't fit. I once tried a USB connection on my old 98 and it fit, but it significantly slowed down the computer. Heck, it wouldn't do anything.
