I have trouble with certain copy and paste situations. I have a laptop if this makes any difference. I know how to copy and paste. I have no trouble from photobucket to the forums and I can copy a recipe(for example) and paste it into my e-mail and send it to myself.

I cannot copy a recipe from a forum and paste it directly into my recipe folder on my computer. I can get it copied but when I go into my recipe folder and try to paste it, it is gone. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Is your recipe folder simply MSWord docs? Or is it a special program? Do you use a mouse or keyboard keys to do the copy and paste or do you use a top toolbar that has copy and paste as choices to click on?

Yes it is in MS word documents. I don't have a seperate mouse. I use my left click to highlight and my right click for the c & p. Sorry I am not computer literate. Does this help?

Perhaps you have the same problem I do. I have to have MSWord open first, and have whatever document (or a new document) sitting there waiting. Then I can go wherever and copy, go back to MSWord and paste. See if that works.

Thanks I just tried it. I kept my word file open in another window. I copied your post and opened my word window. When I went to paste I had no paste button highlighted.

But I can paste it here.

It seems like I am having trouble from copying something online and then pasting to off line. If I stay online I can do it.

Try opening a brand new document in Word. Leave it there and come back here to C-D.

Does your browser have a top toolbar with Edit? and under Edit are there choices including Copy? If so, try this --- highlight some of this text, then on your keyboard hit the Alt key and then E and then C.

Now switch back to your Word doc and see if Paste is available or still grayed-out.

And now for something completely different:

Close all programs except CD and Word

Right-click the menu bar at the bottom of the screen (the one that shows CD and Word as open files) in the gray area. Click on Tile Vertically. You should see CD and Word using 1/2 the screen each.

Highlight the text in CD, and with it highlighted, left-click and drag it to the Word doc. You should see a gray rectangle next to the cursor. Release the button and it should copy to the doc.

Let us know what happens.

You can also try the keyboard shortcuts, but If the menu C & P isn't working I wouldn't hold out hope.

Crtl/C to Copy. Ctrl/V to Paste. Yeah, I know, but Ctrl/P was reserved for Print...

If nothing works I recommend rebooting then try again.

I think it's some sort of weird glitch in Microsoft Word, because it happens to me all the time. I don't know how I wind up fixing it, I think i try a bunch of things and then eventually one of them works.
