For some reason, when I use a search engine, many times I end up re-directed to another site. I press the back button, click the link again, then I get there. Does anyone have any idea why this could be happening? I do have virus, spyware, etc...protection. thanks

Sounds like you have spyware. See if you can get to Malwarebytes.org or SUPERAntiSpyware.com | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware! and get their free scanners. If you can't get there, try downloading and using Firefox instead (Firefox web browser | Faster, more secure, & customizable).

Thanks. I'm also having an issue with AT&T security suite. I wonder if they're related. I'll let you know how it goes.

Once you get cleaned up, remove that as it's obviously not working, (nor would I expect it to work) and install one of the quality free AV apps such as Avast or Microsoft Security Essentials.

Well, after many wasted hours on the phone with AT&T support, I fixed the problem. Malwarebytes did the trick. Thanks so much
So far, so good

OMG it is some kind of annoying virus that I had been fighting with FOREVER. I finally downloaded Firefox and just use it now because IE is just too much trouble to deal with on a regular basis.

I have known people who had to reformat to get rid of it. Spybot and Adaware can't touch it and my anti-virus programs cannot stop it.

My advice is to just use Firefox. There are a few sites that require IE, but not many.

Even Firefox isn't always a solution to problems like this as they can operate below the browser and affect them all. I'd reformat and reload before I'd just live with knowing something like that's still in my computer.

You may also want to try combo-fix.exe You will have to google for a download site and instructions. It was the only thing that got rid of the dreaded ANTIVIRUS2009 that I caught and it might help for this matter also.
