I live in Connecticut and I am in the running for a part time job 10 bucks per hour and 16 hours a week. I am currently in Extended benifits as I have been out of work since October.

My question is how much benifits will I lose by taking a part-time job? I am very anxious to get back working full time again but am scared to lose all my benifits if I accept part-time work. I currently earn $416 a week.

Can advice would be much appreciated.

You will do your weekly claim and they will ask you how much you made. Then they will calculate and give you a portion of your benefits. As a wild guess, you will lose about 40% but there won't be a way to know for sure till you file. If you are too concerned just call the Telebenefits line.

Well, I was on unemployment from Dec - Apr. One thing I know is that if you do accept full-time employment, you cannot collect unemployment benefits for 6 months until your original benefits ended (upon taking the full time job). This could happen if you get laid off within 6 months of the new job. Scary these days.
