Capes are very nice, sometimes small, homes. They are one and a half stories meaning they have a first floor and rooms upstairs where an attic would normally be. Though they are named for Cape Cod, they are found all over the country. They are probably the oldest form of house in this country because they waste no space. Most capes in New England have four rooms on the first floor: living room, kitchen, a bedroom and a room that could be used as second bedroom or a dining room. There is also usually one bath on the first floor as well. Upstairs in the attic area there are usually two bedrooms and sometimes another bath. A lot of times to save money, these rooms were not finished when the house was originally built, but were done later as families grew and finances permitted. They are usually wonderful charming homes that many people start out in. Idealized they are viewed as the typical American home with a white picket fence. Most people that don't like them don't like them because of their size or when they don't have a bathroom upstairs.

Milford does have a lot of employment opportunities but for the best jobs you may need to travel to New Haven or Fairfield County. It all depends on your experience and salary expectations. Traffic in the area is busy but not unbearable. There are pockets of congestion in town but the locals know their way around them. Jay
