WTNH - Stop & Shop closing Hamden store | WTNH.com Connecticut

This is the Stop and Shop a little further down Dixwell Ave toward New Haven.

Not sure what to think of this yet. Not surprised yet a little disappointed. There was always a clear difference between this Stop and Shop and the one further north. The one north always seemed to be run better. But its always a lot more busy. Yet, there are almost always carts/carry things available, store was clean, produce seemed fresh, didnt come across many expired items. The one they are closing is just the opposite. Never too too busy yet theyd often not have carts or the carry things available, produce just did not seem fresher. Ive often come across expired items.

Though I must admit, Id often go to the one towards New Haven if I was doing full shopping. I hate busy stores and the nicer Stop and Shop always seemed to be busy.

I wonder if this is going to drive more of the closed store shoppers further down to the other store. Should be interesting. The demographics are very different between the shoppers of one store vs the other.

Deff agree that it would be something interesting for the demographics of the Stop & Shop located in the Hamden Plaza area. With the Quinnipiac students, locals, and a lot more residents from New Haven I can only imagine what that place would look like on a Saturday!
