Hey, I wanna travel this route as cheap as possible, here is my route:

STARTING on Saturday: Metro- North Railway GRAND CENTRAL TERMINAL at 12:07 pm- arrives NEW HAVEN UNION STATION at 1:55 pm then I will transfer to Shore Line East to OLD SAYBROOK departing at 2:02 pm and will arrive at 2:47 pm at OLD SAYBROOK and will transfer to 9TOWNTRANSIT Shuttle to NEW LONDON which picks people up at 3.00 pm at Old Saybrook and will arrive at 3.55 in New London

Is this possible and will I make it to New London? Why I'm not travelling with AMTRAK? Because one-way ticket costs $44
sorry for my bad english It is not my first language.

You can Take Shore Line East to New Haven and then Use Metro-North New Haven line to Grand Central Terminal but i think thats more expensive then Amtrak. I'm sure theres a Bus , probably Greyhound.

It sounds possible but how much would you really save? Also it does depend on making several connections which may or may not happen the way scheduled. Why not just catch a Greyhound bus from Manhattan to New London? It only costs $30 and will take about 4 hours without an transfers. Jay
