I posted this in the election thread too...stink is too kind of word here. Fraud corruption abounds, I'm telling you.

Lets see, the democratic legislature votes to give Malloy 6.5 million dollars.

Malloy shows signs of losing hard.

Democratically controlled Bridgeport "runs out of ballots" in the 11th hour and breaks state law and starts photocopying ballots and hand writing them.

Democrat Susie - who BTW implimented above ballot system, rushes in and has a left leaning judge who just happened to rule her fit to be AG before the supreme court laughed it out of the chamber extend the polls in the largest collection of dems in the state and allows NEW votes to come in after the polls are closed and results for Foley are being posted.

Then she declares Malloy the "winner" but won't make it official and left leaning outlets like the courant put up "what pushed Malloy's win" on their FB editorial page to follow suit.

It all stinks...stinks to high hell. I'm seeing a Frankenfraud situation all over again where they recount till the get the votes they need.

"Hey, look I found a pile of ballots in the parking lot, someone must have dropped them...they are 99% for Malloy. Yea, Malloy wins."

Nevermind the hundreds of absentee ballots in Bpt that lead to an empty parking lot. Ah, the third world country inside CT known as Bridgepit...and Hartford aint too far behind in it's ability to self govern.

Give me a break. Do you really believe this??? Bridgeport had an issue with not having enough ballots. Susan went to court and got a judge (how do you know he is "left leaning") to allow the city to extend the voting hours. What are they suppose to do, tell people they can't vote? I do not htink this is a big conspiracy at all. It is simply a matter of the Registar of Voters assuming voter turnout would be on par with past years.

And so you know, Bridgeport is not a "third world country", not even close. Jay

I just checked the AP's numbers... they had New Haven having nearly a total of 10k, instead of around 30k of the votes counted. It seems a lot of the problems came from the cross endorsements (people voted for Malloy on both the Democratic and WFP lines).

Bridgeport has its' share of problems, but most of it is nice inner ring suburbs. Sure the East End is a bit sketchy, but that's generally it for "bad parts." Hardly third world.

BTW, both parties in Bridgeport have election officials... both seemed to drop the ball.

~Cheers

After listening to Suzie on the radio, I'd have to agree with this. It was just a big mess up.

You have to admit, it's very unusual for the Sec Of State to announce a winner when there are so many OBVIOUS discrepencies. You dont think she a little partisan do you??

Compared to Greenwich or New Canaan, it is.

She did not "announce" the winner. She indicated that the unconfirmed numbers show Malloy leading. The media played only part of what she said and made it sound like she declared Malloy the winner. Until everything is counted and rechecked and certified, there is nothing offical. Jay

I guess some will take any chance they can to insinuate impropriety when their guy is losing. I'm not sure how this helps us move forward, or is even constructive.

In any case, I don't think this was handled well by the SotS office. I do understand she was merely providing information to the public, as she had it, however, I would have liked to see all the issues with numbers settled before she announce an "unofficial" winner.

That having been said, I think the problem in Bridgeport was handled correctly. The right to vote is primary. It should not be denied through an error by the Registrar, or anyone else. One person, one vote is the foundation of our Republic. Are you really willing to deny people their vote through legal action to give your candidate a leg up?

If people showed up to the polls after 8:00 PM without having been to the polls before 8:00 PM yet, their votes shall not be counted IMO. Voters need to take the 8:00 PM deadline seriously. However, for those who did show up before 8:00 PM but were unable to vote due to ballot shortages, and then came back later, even if after 8:00 PM, their votes should be counted, IMO.
