Theyre not afraid of snow. Mostly their just conditioned now that if it snows the world stops.
I live in a different world than that, but I'v never had a job I got paid if I stayed home either. I guess things like that are a good incentive to not try.
I remember as a kid them canceling busses but school was open if you could get there. Cancelling school like they do forces many people to stay home like it or not & some of them lose a days pay over it. Its a tough call but I think the schools ought to be open in most snowfalls. If we stopped paying the staff to stay home I bet it'd change. On the other hand its a fact that many people who get those days off end up on the roads in the way of cleanup crews & endangering everyone anyway. Like I said its a tough call. I generally go about my business with little fanfare, its just snow. A good set of tires makes all the difference in the world, all or 4 wheel drive isn't needed but sure helps and the truth is if you can afford to live here you can afford a capable vehicle. Just depends on a persons priorities.

For the fortunate people that do not have to drive Route 2 every morning, that's about 8 miles. EIGHT MILES.
Hahaha...yes, the old rollover (or car off the road) around exit 10. For those of us in my office that travel Rt. 2 west in the morning it is a running joke. On snowy days I have given up and many times just take the back roads through Glastonbury, though sometimes that is just as bad as Rt. 2.

Oh, and guess where I got stuck in traffic this morning? Just after exit 10! However, this time it was related to a previous accident in East Hartford.
