Good thing about social media is the ability to warn and create awareness about upcoming events.

After midnight on the 2nd Tuesday Early Morning it will start snowing. It will snow all day Tuesday half foot coastal, Hartford with 9", Northern CT a foot, then will change to ice in afternoon or evening and end Wednesday morning.

This alone will create a mess for travelling.. Keep in mind a 25 mile shift north and we'll get rain, a 25 mile shift south and CT can get a foot or more.

Posts your comments, pictures, opinions, rants, and observations here. And please tell us about any alerts on a situation we might not be aware of such as traffic, ect.

Be safe and get ready for power outages.

I dont understand why NWS doesn't just do the whole state in whole.

Here's one half... National Weather Service Forecast Office - Upton, NY

and try here for other half..they should be updating soon... NWS Taunton, MA - KBOX - Storm Total Snowfall Graphic

An absolute mess for 2 days... I'm thinking Wednesday morning will be an impossible commute. Tuesday morning will be extremely tough without snowtires.

7-Day Forecast for Latitude 41.33°N and Longitude 73.41°W

Monday Night: A chance of snow, mainly after 3am. Cloudy, with a low around 8. Light north wind. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tuesday: Snow, mainly after 9am. High near 26. East wind between 3 and 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

Tuesday Night: Snow before midnight, then snow, freezing rain, and sleet between midnight and 3am, then snow and freezing rain after 3am. Low around 21. Northeast wind between 6 and 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Wednesday: Freezing rain and sleet, becoming all freezing rain after 3pm. High near 32. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Wednesday Night: Freezing rain and sleet likely before 9pm, then a chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 12. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 21.

Well....looks like its shifting south..Dear Lord.

Expect a foot in Central CT and now 8 inches in Southern CT not 4. If its possible take 2 days off this week. Tuesday morning and afternoon commute is going to be a mess and Wednesday morning is going to be impassable with the ice.

It's because every area is handled by a specific regional NWS office. Until the NYC office moved from Rockefeller Center to Suffolk County, Long Island, all of CT was handled by the Boston office. I believe the move happened in the late 1990s sometime.

But under the excuse that the radar at the new NWS office covered southern CT better than the Boston radar, and many NJ zones were not covered as well as they used to being further away from the "new" radar, some major changes were made:

1) All the coastal CT counties came under the guise of the NYC office

2) Litchfield County became under the jurisdiction of the Albany office

3) And many NJ zones that are closer to NYC than Philadelphia became the responsibility of the Philly office.

I do see the NWS forecast for Hartford county backing off on a full changeover to freezing rain on Wed. It would be great to avoid it altogether...I'll take snow ANY DAY over freezing rain. Will this southward trend continue Cambium?

*sigh*

As a school teacher I guess I'm looking at at least two more snow days that need to be made up in June.
