Hi I'm a 7th grader at Ashford School, and for extra credit, I'm doing a project on the effect of the recession on Connecticut's economy. If you could do me a favor and list off recently closed businesses (within the last year) in your CT region, that'd be great. Also, please include what region of CT these businesses are in.
downtown 06801 (bethel) in the last 12 months or so
emilies (i belive they were in town for almost 50yrs), head over heals, little treasures, video exhange, the video house, dollar store, lynnes gift baskets, madingtons, english drug (just after their 110yr aniversary), a candy store (cant remember the name), there was also a clothing store that i cant remember the name of...
thats just the downtown area, there are other stores within bethel town limits that are also gone within the past year, but off the top of my head i cant remember the names.
if we go back 2 yrs you could add even more stores to that list just in the downtown area.
In Connecticut three movie theatres have closed within the past year, Cinema City in Hartford, the Mallview Cinemas 10 in Waterbury and the Colonial Theatre in North Canaan.
"When you say Franco's do you mean the pizza place on RT 372 ?"
yup.. in fact it was practically right across the street from DT. i was kinda shocked when i noticed the sign on the building above the entrance was no longer there. they and DT had been there from the time i moved here in 4/07 to when they closed - over 3 years.

Thanx for the info. I knew about Diamond Trio, but am surprised to learn Franco's closed. I went to high school with the owners son. That place has been open for 20+ years. Maybe there was a tragedy in the family?
