I want to install a range hood for our kitchen but there is a problem. Usually people place their cooking range against the exterior wall (other side of the wall is simply outside of the house) so its easy to vent all the gas outside but due to the layout of the house, I have to place it against an interior wall (other side of the wall is my dining room). Therefore, I'll may have to turn the duct to the right side to and extend the duct so it can reach the exterior wall.

Im afraid that elongating the duct will affect the performance of the vent hood severely and therefore I'd like a professional guy to give his opinion before buying his service and the vent.

Call a local appliance store for recommendations of contractors that do that kind of work. They should be able to point you in the right direction. Jay

Our set up is similar to what you are showing above and ours vents just fine. We didn't install it though, it was there when we bought the house. As long as you aren't going a great distance and get a decent fan/vent it should work just fine.

Uconn: Can you do me a favor? Measure the distance of the exterior wall to the center of your vent hood. If possible, tell me the brand and model name of your vent!

Thanks.
