I'm looking to get quotes on a new oil boiler installed in Fairfield.

What company do you recommend?

Modern Heating & AC out of Milford. Owner Matt Sando personally handles everything - I used him last year for an oil to gas conversion and couldn't be any happier. Great price ($1k less than Standard Oil) and awesome service. Well worth having him come in for a bid.

Just throwing this out there... Ask some plumbers if they replaced a working boiler if they are willing to sell it to you for dirt cheap. This way they make extra money on the take away from other job and you have a working boiler for a fraction of the cost of a new one.

I did it. Cost me $650 to replace my 1980s boiler with this 5yr old boiler. Parts and Labor.

It's a thought you might want to venture if you want to save thousands.

So far I have quotes from Tri City Appliance and Standard Oil. Santa Fuel is coming today, and then later in the week Encon and Modern.

Any benefit or negative to going with an oil company over another guy?

Make sure you ask about payment options. Last year, Standard wouldn't take credit cards while Modern did. That was an easy 7k points / airline miles.

Standard is offering 5 years no interest which is awesome. Tri City takes credit cards also...
I just know which companies are reliable, trust worthy, or those that just want to sell and don't care if it's the right size, etc....

I had my plumber replace our boiler with a new one, I think the boiler and the labor were $5500 or so. I would trust an oil company but don't know if they charge more. My plumber in Stamford is Frank Lopiano, he's a heating specialist esp. for steam heat (for us lucky few).

Stay away from Tri City in Milford. I have heard nothing but horror stories from people who have used them. Also did you look into converting to gas? Just curious because I would never go back to oil, we moved from oil to natural gas and it was a requirement on our list when house hunting.

I'm leaning towards not using Tri City. We don't have natural gas in our area...
