Just wondering... Where do you keep encountering these rude people in Westport? Granted I've been going to mostly the same places in Westport for 23 years, but rarely experience anyone who's out and out rude....

I think a guy who worked in the Starbucks downtown was rude to my partner last week, but, I don't that he lives in Westport...

It just seems so easy to pick on Westport, Darien, etc., based on reputation, but the experience of living there has been vastly different than what is said on here.

Yes. Not for a second do I believe that there are *a lot* of women like this in CT. If there are 2% of the women like this in state A and 4% in CT then it stands out but is again, not even a small amount of the population. (Now if only I can get people on the coasts to stop thinking that we are all Fred Phelps adherents, he's a transplant anyway though. )

P.S. Every state has thier crazies.

Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of good people in Westport. I've known a few personally. There just happens to be plenty of rude ones too. Disproportionally so, it seems.

Trader Joe's (the worst), Fresh Market, Whole Foods (less so), Starbucks, Top This, Andiamo Deli, just a few places I've encountered people that think the world owes something to them and are incapable of erasing the scowl from their face and saying "thank you". They usually follow a very specific type.

Mathguy...your 2%/4% comparison is precisely what I'm trying to get across. By any means, this type of attitude is not the norm, but there are more from my experiences per capita than most similarly affluent areas (Orange County was pretentious but didn't have the education to throw back at people, which can even be worse).

Mkiv...yes the LA hills are snobby, but believe it or not, Santa Barbara and the Bay area are more similar to CT in terms of education and attitude. OC and LA, contrart to what one might think, is not as well educated. Lots of house poor, car poor people with MAYBE a 2 year degree. I know Milford has a few affluent neighborhoods but it's hardly a rich area. In fact, there's a lot of less than stellar people in Milford driving luxury cars. Reminded me a lot of Long Beach, CA.

Jay...if, by now, you still don't agree with what I've clarified, then you're not only fooling people visiting CT with relocation potential, but you're fooling yourself too.

I feel that CT has many great people and wonderful nooks and crannies, but for us, the wealthy are intimidating especially in the good school districts. The way this state is going politically and socially, it's becoming an east coast clone of the place we left (California).

That woman in Westport was nasty, maybe we can all agree on that?!?!

Cheers

In Austin however, I saw many "thirty-thousandaires." Very entitled kids who were making 35K, driving a BMW they couldn't afford and acting like they owned the world.

This type of attitude is inexcusable anywhere, but, I have to reject the supposition that most or even many people display this kind of attitude. It's a small minority-- and that's plenty, thanks.
I gotta go with this. I spend my days dealing with the public and going into private homes.

And, honestly, I don't really see why she is being labeled a nutcase. Clearly she is upset, clearly being told she's "crazy", clearly being targeted by the "blonde" MTA worker out of some kind of vindictive attitude. If someone called me crazy, and I had a good education and background you're damn right I'd stick up for myself.

Actually alot of passengers complained about her cursing , so instead of causing a fight on the train they summoned the conductor. She lied about her Education background and was just acting snobby..... So of course people called her crazy.... And whats Wrong with Blonde's?

For starters swearing that much on a commuter train such that they called the conductor....followed by her going ballistic when being told to stop loudly swearing.

That's not rational behavior because anybody riding those trains KNOWS that it's packed with people that live in your area and work in your area and yet you make an enormous scene? I used to commute on the Metra lines in Chicago and TRUST ME....the threat of disrupting an entire train of commuters and being escorted off would EASILY have had 1/2 dozen people that knew me spreading the word about what I did.

That's crazy to anyone working in a professional community, a really good way to blast your budding career below the water line.

Jviello...I get where you're coming from, and the conductor wasn't helping much with her own attitude, however she wasn't called crazy until she started mouthing off. What's so hard about swallowing your pride, apologizing and continuing your day? The woman was being obnoxious according to fellow passengers.

Mathguy...nobody probably knew her. Metro North is the busiest line in the country and it snakes though lots of areas. I've ridden it when I lived in Milford and never saw anyone I knew. Though once I ran into an old friend from California in Grand Central Station!

Jerseyboy...where are you reading that she lied about her education?
