I have been searching in the Zillow real estate site for a house to purchase but have failed to see where I can tell whether the houses have city service such as water, sewage, gas etc. Where should I look to see whether the houses I am interested in list this information.

I am not ready to contact an agent because you have to provide them with information which I don't want to share at this time. Please advice. Thanks

The information would be public info, you can check with the town's clerk.

Public listings on the internet are a) not always accurate b) not always current c) only include the details that the seller allows to be included or whatever the policy is on the listing agent's website.

If you don't want to do the research on each property by calling the town clerk's office (and possibly paying a fee to research the information, and usually -not- finding the information out immediately, and almost never over the phone), then you'll have to call the listing agent and ask them.

It depends on the listing and town what each house has.

Try Realtor.com. It's often listed in the MLS.

I was wondering about another thing. Why is natural gas pipeline so rare in a wealthy county like FFC? Houses I look at from Greenwich to Westport are either oil or propane. I have yet to see a single house with nat gas.

Houses are older, and older homes were built before the gas pipeline was built. Many homeowners don't switch over because it's a huge expense.

Actually many homes in FFC have gas but they are usually in the older more developed areas. Back in the 70's, the area's gas company stopped accepting new customers. I think it was due to the oil crisis of the early 70's. They stopped expanding their system when much of the area was expanding so you do not see many areas from that era with gas. Jay
