Hi everyone,

I've been apartment hunting in Norwalk, CT and I've heard there are nice place and then there are pockets. The apartment I've looked at is north of 95, on a street right off of Connecticut Ave. called Clinton Avenue. Is this a safe area?

What other streets/areas should be avoided in Norwalk?

It's OK. Not the worst part of Norwalk, but not the best. For instance, I wouldn't necessarily fear for my safety, but I also wouldn't want to park a nice car on the street every night.

Stay away from the area around Ely Ave.

Thanks. I also looked at apartments about a minute south of there as well on a street called Golden Hill...

Anyone know anything about that street?

It is ok. Worked in Norwalk for ten years and was a Rotary member. South Norwalk behind Washington Ave is the bad part. However if you keep going you hit Wilson Point which is multi-million $ area.

thats just behind the hosp.
here is my 2 cents. besides the noise/365 traffic from NH that area is ok. lots of shopping down the street but not walkable becuase ct ave isnt so nice for that near there. but when you get down the street its better. that area apt/house wise is ok. not upper class and not lower class. i would say lower-middle class living for norwalk. some of the apts in that area tho are considered the "problems" of that area. so while the area may not be great but not bad, what holds it back is some of the living infrastructure there......hope that helps. oh and down the street right there near the fire station is a chop shop. thats why i think one poster talked about car parking...

Both of those places are housing projects.
