I dont think there will be work Monday.

Cam! That's not the right answer. You know me. You're supposed to say, "Dawn. Don't worry. I'll make sure that you don't get a drop of rain on you. Or on your dog, either."

Why am I grinning????

Generator tested, filled up and ready to go. Heading out to get some gutter accessories to extend them further away from the house, maybe some candles (Cause I aint going out in the middle of a hurricane to hook up the generator. lol), 30 gallons of fuel, some extra spring water...even though we have a well, I just like Poland Springs, and for fun I think I'll buy eggs, milk and bread.

Friends and family welcome for a hurricane party.

Do you think I should board windows?( Live in Derby off 34 on the Orange border) I just installed new sliders in the back and they were not cheap.......I am just wondering if we are looking at that type of precaution in the area. What do you think Cambium?

It can't hurt, especially if you just want to protect them from flying debris. You don't have to go crazy, 1/4" will do just fine.

Camb - we're debating because if we choose to change our flight and get off the ship in St Thomas, and THAT gets cancelled, we're probably more screwed than if we had just stayed on the ship 'til Sunday out of San Juan. We met a couple from Springfield who are getting off in St Kitts tomorrow and are catching a flight home - but we'd be losing a lot of $ if we did that. We have family/neighbors home preparing our home - going to check on the weather tomorrow and if it's holding steady, we'll consider hiring someone to board up our windows for us. We're about 200 yards from the water in Branford. Also called to make sure my policy is good.

You think flights into LGA and BDL will be cancelled on Saturday?

Honestly no I wouldn't board up my windows unless I lived right on the water. This will be a bad bad storm with very strong winds torrential rain im assuming some, well maybe a lot of downed trees, but I don't think it will be catastrophic. I was in south florida for college in 1992 when andrew hit, that was catastrophic,, where there were neighborgoods like Homestead, there was just rubble, I delivered ice from the fish market I worked in down to those poor people,, trust me you don't want that here. Category 1 hurricane all we can do is sit tight and ride it out. Category 5 you better be gone.

The approach is bad from STT, that's the problem. Good chance of cancellation.

I'd stick around there. There are worse places to be. PS: Hope you enjoyed St. John?

We're 200 yds from the water in Branford. You guys know of any companies that we can pay to board our house? We're on vacation and looks like we're going to have trouble getting home.
