Latest GFS model puts it back a bit out east of the current track again, putting landfall New London/Rhode Island-ish. Other models still putting it closer to NYC (though the other accurate one most of this time, HWRF, also puts it east again).

11 PM update might change things.

Thanks for the link. I will check it out. Got some supplies today but still not sure if I should board up windows. I have lots of tall trees around my house and was tempted to go out and chop them all down today just because I was so freaked out over this storm but sanity returned.

Latest NAM model has E Long Island landfall and RI/Mass. Its also as fast as last GFS. Nighttime peak is going to be horrible.

Cambium, I'm liking your updates. I'm checking your info more than the weather channel! Thanks for the info!

Agreed, please keep it up as long as you get some sleep, lol. The local slant on this end of New England is great though.

What does the 11 PM update have in store for the latest track?

Hurricane? Nahhhhhhh its just false alarm. I remember last year a hurricane is supposed to hit Wilton right on the day we close a deal on purchasing a house and Cambium told me not to worry a thing. He was right as all we got is a half hour drizzle. I don't expect anything different this year.

But I love these updates to keep track of sentiments on the ground. Thanks Cambium.

I am originally from CT, now living in south FL; the storm passed by today, we still had rain and wind gusts --one actually caught me off guard when I went out onto the patio, it was strong--even though it was/is more than 200 miles off shore.

The thing about this hurricane is that it is very large. However, larger hurricanes tend to be less windy but then dump much more rain. I remember Gloria and I actually do think that this storm will be similar: not very strong winds but a lot of rain, probably more than Gloria. So flooding will definitely be a huge issue, as will power outages.

I know that a lot of homes in CT are still on well water so I would definitely stock up on water as well as other non-perishables, a cooler and some ice, candles/lanterns, propane and gasoline. It is an almost certainty that there will be flooding and power outages but I don't think that it will be a huge disaster: this storm will hit NC and then pass over a lot of land before it hits CT. I am really worried for NC and the states immediately hit afterwards.

For those in low lying areas, find out your elevation here. Or your elevation relative to a body of water like a river or lake.

Google Maps Find Altitude
