4 sheets of 1/4" plywood bought. Will wait till tomorrow but measure the cuts today.

Bags of ice in freezer and bottles of water in freezer turned up to coldest.
Coolers will work too.

Irene's Eyewall is collapsing so no further Strengthening will happen but dont take that lightly yet.

I was focusing on my own community here, not sure about other parts of Connecticut but I do assume it be slightly worse than Floyd... I'm sure it be more between Floyd/Bob just more rain. Floyd did killed one person here, though

It's always a good idea to take out some cash, although I have seen businesses simply pull out those old slide machines so that people can use credit cards. As far as I can remember, the cash registers always seem to work in the grocery stores even when the refrigerators do not But cash is always a good idea. I would take out a reasonable, emergency amount.

Looking at the latest GFS... Horrible setup. Rain to start Saturday morning... All day rain... Peak will come at night.. After 6pm winds will start then get intense overnight till Sunday lunch time and last all night. Should pull away by Sunday night.

So chances are when we wake up Sunday or when daybreaks if you stayed up all night....we'll be surprised or shocked.

Still showing a 965mb Low.

Every source that I have seen has it as a Cat 2. I think that it will be a Cat 1 by the time it hits CT; I would be really surprised to see it reach CT only as a tropical storm. And, if the storm is going to pass right over New Haven, then the damage throughout CT will be significant.

It wont be a cat2 for sure..cat 1 is borderline now..when it hits land in NC it will tell the story. I predict by CT its a strong Tropical Storm.. to be honest not super impressed with the old gal today..Still plenty to worry about but....focus on the rain..not the wind so much..thats where the story will lie.

GOOD NEWS: 2pm Update. Irene weakens even more. LOL... I swear...If we get nothing I vow to not post about weather for the rest of the year!

I still say damage will be widespread but I do feel comfortable hearing she's weakening.

edit: I'm off to buy a car 110v adaptor this way when power is out I can charge cell phones and still use laptop... maybe even make coffee too. :-)
