This thread proves one thing. No one really knows SH*T about hurricanes in the end, even with a P, H and D in your title.

Someone posted this on the LI board earlier. It can be used to learn elevations and more.

I read news article that stated New Jersey power company notified its customers that state wide power outages could be between 1-3 weeks?
If that turns out to be the case here in CT I don't know what to do. I planed for 7 to 10 days at most. Wish it was Monday morning already...

Re: Van Zant Street - Try looking on the City of Norwalk web page, they should have information. Van Zant Street is very close to the water, my son has gone to the batting cage in E. Norwalk.
What's the batting cage? A shelter?

I've been reading but just registered to add this. Clinton has suggested a voluntary evacuation for those south of I-95. http://clinton.patch.com/articles/vo...ion-encouraged

Ok, guys, thanks! Found the City of Norwalk website. I got ahold of someone and they say Van Zant doesn't usually flood. I actually called the Police Dept. They said if I change my mind, to give them a call and they can give me a ride to Brien McMahon High School. But I Think I will stay put and pray for the best....no resources to vacate anyways.

DD and SIL in Bermuda were supposed to land in NY at 12:45 tomorrow---will now be there until Tuesday at least. Our camper is parked next to the garage--if the power goes for any length of time, guess we'll be showering there. Filled the propane tanks up today.

My kids and I are Katrina survivors...so we just sat here and reminisced about N.O. post Katrina. I just learned tonight that quite a few of my daughter's friends had passed in Katrina....and she never told me! I know a Cat 1 is not a Cat 5...but after going thru a monster like Katrina, I think twice before dismissing another storm.

No I think he means there's a batting cage in the area that his son has used in the past, so he knows the area.

They mean like 24 hours from midnight tonight right? I can't see why they'd close it 90 minutes from now, it hasn't even started nor made landfall in NC for that matter......I admire the precautions being taken but that would be a bit much.
