Wow! Lots of town & areas affected by this storm and their water.
What would make the water go bad in towns where the hurricane took out the power? They even said that people on wells in this area shud consider their water infected and take care of that...

If you look at the list you will see these are neighborhoods or developments served by private wells. These wellls have treatment systems that purify the water and they were run on some type of backup system during the pwer outage that is now not working. Until the power and the system is back these people will need to boil their water to be safe. Jay

East Haven is bouncing back. A "mini-store" was hastily set up in the beach house (a town building) by the beach. They are collecting and distributing non-perishable food, cleaning supplies, water and so on. I have been there several times to donate and it is good to see the area people turning out to help these people who have lost so much. Yesterday there was a cookout for storm victims. Monetary donations can be made to any TD Bank.

Hope everyone on here is fully back to normal, powerwise and that the bad water situation is cleared up soon.

I just found out yesterday Sikorski Airport in Stratford was damaged but I cant find a story on it. Here's the pic. Wind gusts were recorded at 63mph there.

Aerial photos of Hurricane Irene aftermath | masslive.com

Also... The pic above that MKIV808 posted of the insane wave in Milford I cannot find ANYWHERE... Does someone have a link to that picture?? I'm going to have to assume it could be a fake floating around. :-(

It was a frame of a video, I can't recall if someone posted a link to the video here, or if I saw it on the local news website (WTNH), or if it was on youtube. It was around a minute's worth of watching the waves crashing onto the sides of those houses, and that one frame was one of the worst of the crashes.

It's definitely not a fake. I was near that street when it was happening.

I got it off CTpost.com

No, that's not a screenshot - that's a legit photo with a good SLR camera. The video and photo just happen to have been taken from similar vantage points, but they are separate pieces of media.

Default CT Declared Disaster Area Affects Property Appraisals

This was from the wall of a FB friend who is a realtor in Bristol, CT.

FEMA has declared the ENTIRE state of Connecticut a disaster area. Due to this, lenders will require that an appraiser return to any property that has already been appraised but the loan not closed and funded. This is to ensure that the property did not sustain any damage during Hurricane Irene. There very well could be an additional cost associated with this and additional time needed.

Lenders -can- require that. I would hope they will, but I don't know if there's any law on the books requiring them to do that. They'd be foolish not to though.
