I'm planning to relocate to CT, my work location is NYC so I have to commute to NYC on a daily basis. Let me put the things I'm looking for in my new location

1. Commute to NYC.
2. Safe Neighborhood.
3. Good schools near by.

Please let me know the approx ballpark of the rent for a 2BHK apt also when you respond.

I have lived in NewJersey and NewYork all my life and would like to move to CT because of my wife's relocation requirements. Your valuable advice in this regard will be much appreciated to a novice like me.

The easiest commutes from CT to NYC are Greenwich, Stamford or Darien. Greenwich and darien are beautiful and suburban family communities with very good schools. Stamford is a small city - schools aren't as good, but not bad either. There are more apartment options in Stamford - Greenwich has some apartment options, but you'd be looking at mostly houses & condos. Same for Darien.

It's hard to advise you with no idea as to your budget, but lower Fairfield County is REALLY expensive to buy (500k is entry level for a small, fixer-upper house). To rent, you should be able to find a nice two bedroom in Stamford for 2000-2500/month.

Thank you very much Jax, I appreciate your efforts. I'm looking to rent and would be comfortable if you or others seeing this thread share the location with rent within $1200-1400 range, with little drive the train station I'm willing to compromise, I'm the only bread winner can't spend more than this for the rent.

That budget works in Stamford for a studio or small 1BR. Norwalk might not be a bad option if you don't mind the longer train ride, apartments are a bit cheaper there.
